Transitioning to NIP-99: A More Flexible Marketplace
We’re upgrading Plebeian to embrace NIP-99 (Classified Listings), moving beyond the structured framework of NIP-15 (Nostr Marketplace). This transition will make listing and browsing products even more versatile. With NIP-99’s flexible format, sellers can create richer, Markdown-based listings with tags for price, location, and categories—perfect for our diverse community of makers and buyers. Stay tuned as we roll out this upgrade, ensuring seamless Lightning payments and Nostr-powered communication.
Introducing Collections: Curate and Discover Like Never Before
Big news! Our team is building collections, a game-changing feature to organize and showcase products in exciting new ways:
Curated Product Groups: Merchants and community curators will soon be able to bundle listings into thematic collections, like “Handcrafted Jewelry” or “Bitcoin Gear.” Using NIP-99’s category tags, these curated groups will make it easier to discover hidden gems on Plebeian.
User-Generated Collections: Want to share your favorite finds? Users will be able to create and share their own collections, from “Local Farmer’s Market Picks” to “Top Auction Deals.” This feature, inspired by recent Nostr protocol updates (like NIP-51’s wishlist kinds), will empower you to personalize your shopping experience and connect with others.
While collections are still in development and not yet live, we’re leveraging Nostr’s addressable events (a tags) to make them interoperable with both NIP-99 listings. Expect a more vibrant, community-driven marketplace soon!
