NIP-05 is a verification method for your Nostr account across all clients. Think of it as the blue checkmark on Twitter or Instagram, but instead of meeting Twitter and later Instagram’s requirements to be verified, you can simply do it yourself, and Nostr clients will respect it.
Some advice for venturing into Nostr:
There are many nostr clients popping up…
some of them ask you to enter your public and private keys to enter the client.
You can enter just your public keys and you get read only access.
We highly recommend you never enter your private keys as this is a massive security threat! Just like your bitcoin private keys you don’t want to be saving it in the “cloud”.
We highly recommend you use Alby to create and verify your keys.
